Sump Pump Installation
Typically, the French drain system in a crawl space or basement will have sump pumps connected to it. In addition to installing a French drain system, the sump pump will be installed at the low point. Determine where the feed line is going to be installed per sketch (may have to move location in the field, but that is up to Forman/ Production manager).
- Dig a 24”x24” hole at the low point (in a basement you will need to break out the concrete slab at the same dimensions).
- Once the hole is all prepped and leveled, lay down a small layer of clean river rock at the base of the hole.
- Set the basin in the hole and make sure it’s level.
- Ensure drainage has a positive connection into the sump basin.
- Backfill the hole with clean river rock.
- Partially assemble the discharge line to the sump pump
- Once the basin is set in place, set the sump pump at the bottom of the basin.
- Finish assembling the sump pump to the discharge line.
- Complete a flood test by filling up the basin/drain pipe with water, plug in the sump, and make sure the system is functioning properly with no leaks.
- Once the sump pump is installed and functions, place the lid on the basin, and if you are installing it in the basement, mix and re-pour concrete as needed to match the existing slab.
